The Brahmaputra valley

Assam is one of the northeastern states of India along with its bordering states which are Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura . It is also the land where Brahmaputra flows and is the lifeline for so many people living in this state. Assam is also famous for its rich flavored tea. The tea most of grown here is at sea level and is known for its malty flavour and strong bright colour and is often sold as English Breakfast Tea.  The state of Assam is known to be the world's largest Tea growing region, lying on the either sides of the Brahmaputra river grown on its rich alluvial soil. 



If you ever think of visiting Assam you should never miss out on few things especially the Kaziranga National Park which home to the great one horned Rhinoceroses. It is located very close to the Brahmaputra river and is at a distance 223.7 Kms from Guwahati. The national park has been recognized as a World Heritage site and cannot miss out on the one horned Rhinocerose, Elephants, Tigers, wild water buffaloes and swamp deers. The Kaziranga National Park is also considered as an important bird area since its is a resting place for many migratory bird during winter, such as the Bar headed goose which migrate from the colder region such as Ladakh and Siberian Region and Rudy shell duck migrate from  for their survival.

                                 The Rudy Shellduck migrates travel from regions such as Morocco and places in central Asia to South Asian Countries such as India in winters.  






Majuli Island is another trip is another trip that you would not want to miss during your stay in Assam. In case you have not heard it the island, it is a river island floating in the middle of the Brahmaputra river. 








The island was formed due to the course changes by the Brahmaputra river and lies about 200 kms east from Guwahati. What is so interesting about the island is that is the world's largest river island and therefore a paradise for the bird lovers. The island can be reached by taking a bus or a taxi from the nearest town, Jorhat, and then two ferry rides. It is a three hours journey from Jorhat. 

Going further towards upper Assam, Dirbu Siakhowa National park is another unique destination famous for , Hoolock Gibbons and migratory birds. The national park is bounded by the Brahmaputra and one of its tributary, the Lohit River. The park mainly consists of moist mixed semi- evergreen forest, deciduous forest and grassland.

The Park is also famous for migratory birds.
  



          Wild horses are one of the attractive features of the Dibru Saikhowa National Park.
 The Brahmaputra valley is one of the most prominent features of the North East India. filled with semi ever green rain forest. The Eco region lying along with the alluvial plain of the Brahmaputra River acts like a life line for many people and animals .
